Our Story
EmpowHer Choices Juvenile Abuse Prevention Initiative (ECJAPI) is a Girl-child advocacy organization, dedicated in speaking out against adolescent pregnancy & child marriage, through support programs for young girls in Sports, Skills Development, STEM, Stablehand Education & Horsemanship. We’ve created an ecosystem to see the Girl-Child thrive in safety & sisterhood.
The Padded Girl Program
Our journey includes significant outreach programs like our visit to the Christian Faith Crisis Home in Plateau State, Nigeria. Through our partnership with ZenaPads, we demonstrated the use of biodegradable sanitary pads.
We empower young girls through reproductive health education, teaching them about their bodies, consent, and healthy choices, alongside sports and skill acquisition.
How It Started
EmpowHer Choices Juvenile Abuse Prevention Initiative (ECJAPI) began as a direct response to rising adolescent exploitation and child marriage in Bukuru, Plateau State. Dedicated to speaking out against adolescent pregnancy and child marriage, we create support programs in Sports, Skills, STEM, Stablehand Education & Horsemanship to help girls thrive in safety and sisterhood.
The Seed is Sown
Founder Ms. Jennifer Nikurai Maton recognized a critical gap in adolescent protection and menstrual support in Bukuru. A small circle of educators and medical advocates met to design a grassroots intervention.
First School Outreaches
Launched our initial interactive workshops. We spoke openly in classrooms about reproductive health, consent, and self-protection, distributing our first batch of sanitary packages.
Boy Child Partnership
Collaborated with the Let's Grow Together Initiative (LGTI) to host seminars for teen boys, fostering friendships anchored in mutual respect, accountability, and healthy boundaries.
TCNN Partnership & Scale
Formalized our partnership with TCNN Bukuru and represented the Plateau Specialist Hospital TVAII team, expanding the Padded Girl Program across Plateau State.
